Every avid Sex and the City fan waited with baited breath to see what form Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding dress would take. A series which was as much fashion as it was plot line, the wedding dress was sure to be a spectacle. The style team certainly did not let the waiting masses down with the beautiful Vivienne Westwood Gold Label wedding dress they chose. Of beautiful champagne silk, with a built-in corset, and picked up ends, the wedding dress was simply breath-taking.
A Vivienne Westwood spokesperson said that the wedding dress “always captures the essence of the collection to its most extreme and is the highlight piece”. That it certainly was. In the film, Carrie is sent a multiplicity of choices but the Westwood dress clearly stands out amongst the others and is chosen. Admittedly, “Sex and the City has definitely helped raise the popularity and visibility of this dress”. Indeed, the shortened version of the dress was snapped up immediately following the release of the Sex and the City film though it costs a hefty $10,000! It seems these brides-to-be were not dissuaded by the fact that Carrie gets stood up at the altar in the piece.
